27 [Zandali+ Translated Text]

By the Loa I feel like an old man right now.

[Kevas sat at the bottom of the stairs in the barracks breathing heavily. Maybe he shouldn't be doing this, in fact he probably shouldn't be doing this, but he just couldn't keep sitting in that room of his. Besides, his limbs weren't hurting that badly.]

Don't suppose anymon would mind giving a busted troll a hand to the infirmary? Should probably stop putting it off.

[Just because he's tired of lying around doesn't mean he's willing to risk slipping out there and breaking everything all over again.]

You know we both know the other to this question already.

I will never understand this need to cripple yourself further doing what is beyond your body's limits.

Where ARE you?

[Well if that's not the pot calling the kettle black he doesn't know what is.]

Hey now I know exactly what my body can handle, and it's not like I got that. Still in the barracks at the bottom of the stairs.

[Shaddap and accept her hypocritical worrying, you recovering alcoholic.]

Then I am coming to find you and prevent further injury. Stay put.

Yeah yeah I'm not moving, but I would like to say that I haven't hurt myself.

[When Nel finally shows up and slinks up to his crippled ass, she checks him over regardless with the critical eye of a field medic.]

You still look terrible.

[She feels for him. Really, she does. But she can't let him see that; her arms fold across her leather-armored chest.]

Tell me something I don't know.

[He's hiding it well but he's still going through quite a lot of pain. At this point he's not sure what's better, this or the withdrawal.]

[Her concern wars with the sense that she should allow him to reap what he sowed. It's a proverb she believes in, but this is her friend and only anchor during a war of contrition.

Belying the attitude of mere seconds ago, Nel sighs and drops to her knees in a balanced crouch.]

Alright. I'm going to speed the process, a little.

[He wouldn't blame her if she did. This had to be a massive betrayal of her trust and he's just counting himself lucky that she was still speaking with him. Kevas was expecting to get quite the cold shoulder from her after this.]

All your going to do is tire yourself out over something we both know I deserved. Save your strength for when it's really needed.

[He'd take her help getting to the infirmary but he didn't want her pushing herself for his sake.]

[Her shoulder WAS pretty icy for a while, there. Eventually the realization hit that shunning him was punishing both of them with no tangible results.

Nel's lips purse, disapproval personified.]

I know I can't heal all of you, not like I used to.

[Fuck you very much, Deior.]

Tell me where it hurts the most.

[Kevas shook his head. Arguing with her was more difficulty than arguing with anyone else. Probably because she was the only person he knew that was as stubborn as her was, if not more so.]

My leg.

[That's not exactly the truth. If anything it was his right arm since the shoulder, arm, and wrist were broken. Still, Kevas wanted to be able to walk before anything else. Mobility was more important than pain relief.]
